That awkward moment when your 56 year old mother has better abs (and body in general) than you.

My weight loss story, as featured on German TV. It is half in German and half in English but yeah. You can see me running, my blog, my before/afters, me making a protein shake and me dressed as Lady Gaga lmfao. WATCH IT OKAY.

i just found some more than unflattering pictures of myself on facebook, but fortunately those make great before pictures. the left is from my high school graduation party in may of 2010. i began my journey in january 2011, and the right picture is from december 2012. this was done healthily, of course, and i have been living a healthy lifestyle for 2 years now and working on my personal training certification.

think of your body as a car. it won’t run on empty, and it will ruin your car if you use bad gas. fill up on good, healthy foods and your body will thank you for it!

For those of you who wonder who MY inspiration is, it is my mom. She has been a personal trainer and aerobics instructor for 30+ years. She is 56 years old and is still in the best shape of her life and looks better than most people my age (including me tears).

As if that wasn’t awesome enough, she is also deaf and has a cochlear implant. How does she hear the music when she’s teaching her classes and keep a steady rhythm? She feels the bass through the floor.

If that isn’t a BAMF, I don’t know what is.

You have no excuses. If she can do it, you can.

I love you, mommy!

My mom has some crazy unflattering pictures of me from when I was incredibly over weight. Looking at these pictures, I feel like my highest weight might have been somewhere in the 200s. But now I am 120-ish and couldn’t be happier or more proud of myself. It pains me to look at these old pictures but it just shows how far I have come. The old pictures are from 2008-2009.

My girlfriend’s amazing journey!

:3

How tall is she??

I am 5’1”.

Wow you’re awesome!! Ur an inspiration big time for me. I’m just barely 5’2” and I want to be around 110-120 lbs. seeing you makes me want to get there even faster!! :)

Well, good luck to you! You can do it!

I figured being back in NM and at my old house called for some new after shots. Same bathroom, totally different girl now. It’s almost been two years since I started my journey.

My mom is awesome. 56 and more in shape than all of us. She has been doing this for 30+ years. She’s a beast.

post-workout muscle appreciation.

I can’t wait until we move into our new apartment where I can start heavy lifting and running every day again and tone even more lakshdalkshd.

In 2008, Alicia Follmer of Standford university was accidentally tripped from behind. She fell and 7 competitors ran over her, she was spiked in the head, and stepped on. When Alicia got back up she was in 10th place. With blood streaming down her face she managed to finish in 3rd place. Source: FitChicks.

A lot can change in a short period of time. It’s been a year and a half since I completely and totally changed my life. Looking in the mirror is almost surreal now. I think that might be why my body image is so distorted, because I’m not used to seeing this reflection looking back at me. I’m still working on accepting my body, and still losing a few more pounds, but I have been feeling a lot better about my body lately. Forgive my ramblings, but I’m just thinking out loud, I suppose.

I AM A MERMAID IN MY FAT PANTS. I fit both of my legs into one leg of the pants. Go me.

I’ve been asked time and time again to do a progress picture like this, and the people who interviewed me asked me to get a pair of pants in the size that I used to wear - since I had thrown all my ‘fat’ clothes away - for the interview. I got a cheap pair from Goodwill and yeah. This is my progress, pant-size wise. My highest size was a 15, I currently wear a 1-3 (these are US sizes). Pretty sure I could fit both legs into just one leg of my old pants. I may try this.
